Closing the Bones Ceremony
A Closing of the Bones Ceremony is a traditional body-based practice originating in Central and South American midwifery traditions. It uses rebozo scarves to offer gentle rocking, holding and wrapping, creating a sense of containment, settling and rest during times of transition. The ceremony begins with slow, rhythmic rocking using long woven rebozo scarves. While you rest fully clothed, the scarves are placed beneath and around the body and gently moved from head to foot. This rocking is soft and repetitive, offering a soothing, cradling sensation that many people find calming and grounding. Following the rocking phase, the ceremony moves into gentle wrapping. Different areas of the body are carefully wrapped and held in turn using the scarves, with pauses for stillness and rest between each stage. The pace is slow and unhurried, allowing time to settle without expectation or effort. There is no massage, no manipulation and no internal work. The focus is not on achieving change or release, but on being held, supported and given time to rest and integrate. Experiences vary from person to person; some people find the ceremony deeply calming, while others simply appreciate the quiet containment and stillness. This offering is held with clear professional boundaries and is offered as non-medical self-care, not therapy or treatment. Please allow approximately 2 hours for the full session.
